Review: Arguably one of the best horror comedies of all time is Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead, and since it was launched in 04, there have been a number of candidates. Based on the trailers for Zombieland, but I thought the movie had some serious potential to match Shaun in terms of quality, maybe even rob. After watching the film, I'm happy to say I merely Zombie that.Unlike many comedies in recent history, when most of the laughs are already provided by the trailer, the Zombie filled to the brim with laugh hearing yt moment, thanks in large part to the excellent cast. Eisenberg is impressive as the main character, Columbus, portrays the feeling of vulnerability and embarrassment, without being too, like Michael Cera. Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin are also fabulous as the cute but tough Wichita and more mature than it appears Little Rock, respectively. The performance of the real stand-out, but is Woody Harrelson as Twinkie-lovin ', zombie-Hatin Tallahassee. Next to Woody Boyd in jubilation and Frasier, this is definitely the best performance of his career. Theres also a painfully hilarious cameo halfway through the film that would be a crime to destroy. Enough to say it is? hands down? best cameo I've ever seen in a film. The most surprising aspect of Zombieland, for me, is the amount of heart out there. All the characters feel warm and alive, and that the drama is not feeling very sincere. Ultimately, you feel invested in the story and characters, huh? I think? the most important thing any movie in any genre can do.Zombieland has become an instant favorite of mine horror (comedy or otherwise). The? for lack of a better word? quotable dialogue, the consistently hilarious and endearing characters, all come together to create a film that will undoubtedly become a cult classic. |
